Chimney Repair Bucks County

I made this video to send to Estates Chimney repair of bucks county to see what they think of my chimney. Does my chimney need repairing? I don’t know. It looks fine to me. The roof near the chimney might need repaired, as we get a bit of water dripping into the garage when we get a hard rain.

Fear not, I did make it down with out incident. If anything I got some good roof top footage of the area surrounding our Montgomery county house.

As I have stated before, I am not an expert chimney repairman, so I have no idea if our chimney needs any servicing. Have you had to have your Chimney repaired?

Ehouse Hub Update

Ehousehub has been an inactive site for well over a year, so I am going to be making some changes to the site to make use of this potentially very useful piece of Internet real estate.

A blog will be put onto the site and will use video applications on a regular basis. The shopping cart, which received three orders last month needs to be uninstalled or deactivated until another product line can be obtained and uploaded.

Since we bought a new house, many of my activities include taking care of the 3 acre yard, maintaining the pool, and other home improvement tasks. The ehousehub blog, will be where I blog about all these activities.

Contemporary Interior Design Philadelphia

We were looking for an interior designer that services the Philadelphia area, and a friend recommended Green Door Interiors who operate out of Blue Bell. Checking out their site, I see that they service not only residential accounts, but business accounts as well. We just bought a new house, and are going to be maintaining two residences so we will need to use quite a few of their services to include purchasing designer furniture, and all of the residential interior design services that they offer.

This will be a true learning experience for us, as we have never used the services of a professional designer. Lizzie, being an artist herself, prides herself on being a good home decorator. I myself don’t know much about interior design. When I think of an interior designer, I think of the designer Eldin Bernecky, who was Murphy Brown‘s designer. I certainly hope that we don’t establish such a long term relationship with our designer as she did in the show.

Undertaking Home Improvement

Lizzie, my wife and I have started fixing up the house in order to hopefully sell it for a good profit. Selling or renting, we have been waffling between the two. The plan had been to buy another house and rent this one. But somehow, probably when her Lizzie’s pop was in the hospital, the idea of buying a house with an in-law suite was born and soon took on a life unto itself.

So Lizzie went on one of those home improvement referral sites, and soon she had contractors calling her to give her estimates. One contractor from Boyertown, Luciano Bathrooms I believe, who looks they would do awesome work on remodeling our bathroom, was just way over our price range. We currently have two contractors doing work on the house.

The first contractor who is from Bizzy Bees Professional Services, will be starting this weekend, and will be putting a new roof on the garage and a few other minor things. The second contractor, Solomon Construction Services, out of Pottstown, came in with the low bid, and will be doing the majority of the home improvements.

We gave Randy Nagir, the general contractor our deposit yesterday, and he and two of his workers were here this morning starting on the kitchen. We emptied out all the cabinets yesterday so that they could take off all the doors and cabinets to repaint them and put on new hardware.

When Randy, gave us his price, we then met with him to discuss everything he would be doing. I requested several references from him, of which I called and they both said he did an awesome job and would highly recommend him as a contractor.

I did not ask him for his documentation concerning insurance and licensing( his card states that has both).

What Randy will be doing includes but is not limited to.

Painting down stairs.
resurfacing the hard wood floors down stairs.
remodeling the upstairs bathroom to include a new shower, toilet and ceiling, vanity, and bathroom floor.
Painting upstairs.
Carpet upstairs.
painting and putting on finish trim on front porch.

As Randy says, he wants to not just do this job, but wants to be our contractor for life. He is developing a referral business.

Well further postings about our home improvement status will be posted later.

Hand Tools, Power Tools Wanted

We are in the middle of making updates to the Ehousehub.com as stated in the post Home Improvement Site Improvements, however, we ran into a little snag. The company that we were to be getting products from, has since reduced the number of tools from 650 to exactly 7. So we are in the process of looking for a supplier of hand tools and power tools. There are many sites out there that sell discount tools, but to be profitable, you must do your due diligence. At the Hub, we do not want to sell crap…if we did that, customers will not return. So that is were we are in the development of the site. We do have one very good possibility, and we will be researching the company to see that they have a good track record. Which should include a past history of timely shipping, as well as a good selection quality hand and power tools. We also are willing to go to more than one resource for our home improvement tools.

Ehousehub.com will be undergoing some changes in the next couple of weeks. The site was assigned its own developer, who will be adding new products. The site has also been undergoing a limited link building campaign, but nothing too serious. Keywords we would like the site to rank for include hand tools, discount hand tools, quality hand tools, hand tool use, power tools, discount power tools, name brand power tools, power tool use, home improvement, home improvement tips, home improvement tools, home improvement plans, home improvement ideas, and home improvement warehouse to name a few.

Power Express Professional Tape Measure-The First official order came in the other day. The POWER EXPRESS PROFESSIONAL TAPE MEASURE is a 33ft extra wide blade measuring tape. From all my time working in construction, I know a good measuring tape is a welcomed piece to any tool box. The Fractions on this tape are marked every 1/8″ so mistakes occur less easily. Stud markings in red every 16″ for easy reading while framing. With a four rivit end hook, this tape measure will surely be able to stand up to a lot more than conventional measuring tapes. Well it has been quite a while since I wrote in this blog. I wrote one post, but never published it. Just did. Since the inception of the Ehousehub.com site, it has been redesigned. We bought the initial site from an ebay seller. The site looked great with all the RSS content. It had many pages, but one problem. We were never able to get it cached in google. After redesigning the site, it is now cached. It is primarily an online store with products that can be used to improve the home. There is also a directory that goes with the site, http://www.ehomeimprovementdirectory.com/. The directory which was started after the hub, actually got cached sooner before the hub. It currently only has a page rank of 4, but we are hopeful that it will jump in the next update.
